Domain Transfer Process Information:

You can transfer an existing domain to nicgrab.com with no downtime on your website. There is never a fee to transfer, all we charge you is $12.50 for an additional year of registration (renewal). So, if you have 1 year remaining on your domain, you'll now have 2.

Please read this carefully. Prior to transferring your domains to NicGrab.com, we would like to make sure that you understand the transfer process and the timings.  Please read the following information.

There are 4 Phases involved in transferring a domain.

The phases are:

  1. Pre Domain Transfer

Before you transfer a domain, make sure that the "Admin Contact Email Address" for the domain being transferred is a valid address, meaning that an eMail sent to that address will be received by you.

If the "Admin Contact Email Address" listed in the current WHOIS  for the domain is not valid, you must contact your current registrar and request that the "Admin Contact Email Address" be changed.

Very Important. When we refer to the "Admin Contact eMail Address",  we are referring to the address that is currently on file with your current domain registrar,  we are not referring to the address you are entering on the domain transfer order form.

The "Admin Contact eMail Address" is used by your current registrar and us to validate the authenticity of the domain name you are transferring (we have to verify that you are the rightful owner and are authorized to transfer this domain.

  1. Transfer your domain

You initiate the transfer of your domain to us via the transfer domain feature on our web site. Once you complete the transfer request, OpenSRS will send you an email requesting that you approve the domain transfer. The confirmation eMail sent by OpenSRS contains a unique URL which displays an option to accept the registrar transfer (if for some reason, you wish to decline, just ignore the request and it will time-out and cancel after 5 business days).

  1. Approve the domain transfer with OpenSRS

Once you have authorized the transfer, it is reviewed by OpenSRS. Note that all transfers are sanity-checked to prevent high-profile domains like "aol.com" from being transferred fraudulently (some domains will require extra verification). Once this review process is complete, the domain transfer request is sent electronically to the current  (losing) Registrar.

  1. Approve the domain transfer with the current registrar

Some registrars (Network Solutions and Register.com, etc) will also send you an eMail (like OpenSRS) instructing you to approve the transfer by various methods (following a link or a cut and paste email) within a very specific timeframe.  If you do not respond and approve the transfer (exactly as they have instructed you to), they will not approve the transfer, it will time out and automatically cancel.

We strongly suggest that you read the email very carefully and understand their approval process. If you are unsure what to do,  forward a copy of that email to admin@nicgrab.com and we will advise you what you must do. Unless the current Registrar explicitly denies the transfer (for instance, the account may not be "in good standing" with them), it will usually go through this step within 5 business days. It can go through sooner, if the losing registrar explicitly approves the transfer. This will vary from registrar to registrar.

Please note that when you process a registrar transfer, it will not show up as "Active" until the transfer has completed successfully. It usually takes 3-5 business days but may take as long as 10 business days.

Note:

If your domain transfer fails,  we will work with you (whatever it takes) until the transfer is completed. All that we ask,  is that you check your emails daily and approve the transfers as soon as they arrive,  we will do the rest.

Domains can not be transferred if:

  1. The domain was registered (or transferred) less than 60 days ago
  2. The existing registrar has the name domain on HOLD for any reason
  3. The existing registrar has the name locked for either non-payment or at the end users request
  4. The domain name has expired or is in the last 4 days prior to  expiration
  5. You do not have access to the current Admin Contact e-mail account
  6. You do not respond to the email sent to you from OpenSRS and or your current registrar requesting that you approve the transfer of the domain from the existing registrar to NicGrab.com

** Use our WHOIS utility (Click here) to verify that you domain ** qualifies for transfer.
